A new report from Juniper Research says that more than 1 out of 4 mobile phone users in the US and Western Europe will use their NFC-enabled devices to pay for goods in-store by 2017. The firm has also predicted that there will be less than 2% NFC users in
2012 and the technology will experience a steep increase by 2017. Other findings from the report include that NFC mobile payments will set to exceed $180 billion worldwide in 2017. The reason behind this is standardization of NFC technology, which will allow mobile network operators to offset declining ARPU when switching to NFC-based payment projects.
