Facebook has removed the “Find Friends Nearby” feature that would let mobile device users to find Facebook users in nearby geographic locations. The feature enabled search even when the user wasn’t friends with others on the social network.
Facebook rolled-out the FFN feature yesterday saying that it was in a “testing” phase. It became the topic of controversy when Friendthem accused Facebook of stealing its idea.
Facebook spokesperson has however declined to comment on the removal of Find Friends Nearby. The company in an earlier statement disclosed that the feature wasn’t a “formal release” and it was instead something that a few engineers were testing.
